Get to know two of the most experienced Monetha pillars
“The strength of the team is each member. The strength of each member is the team.” — Phil Jackson
This may be a quote by one of the greatest basketball coaches of all time, but it makes so much sense for technology too. The team is nothing without talented and experienced individuals and vice versa.
With this philosophy, we are seeking for the best talent to form a tight, powerful fist and put their minds together to create a technology for the future and I wish I could describe the feeling I got, when two superbly experienced individuals joined the Monetha team.
Who are they? What do they do? What have they accomplished? This will be answered in this blog.
Eric Duprat and Dr.Jean-Marc Seigneur. These two names were at the top of the Monetha’s wish-list and since the early days of the project and now after finding so many interests and common goals they have become full team members.
To tell all the great accomplishments these two men have done in their respected fields, I would need to create a multi-blog. So even when I would love to write it all, I’ll try to put it in a concise form.
First of all – one of the Europe’s most influential figures on trust and reputation online — Dr.Jean-Marc Seigneur.
Dr. Jean-Marc Seigneur
Jean-Marc is currently a Phd. professor at the Geneva University, where he teaches online trust and reputation (I don’t know if you remember, by my main strength is the Decentralised Trust and Reputation). His experience proves that Jean-Marc and me is a perfect duo to polish the DTRS (Decentralised Trust and Reputation) to perfection.
The road to online trust Olympus wasn’t a short one. Jean-Marc has been working his way up this hill for over 15 years, while advising companies like “Amazon”, “Nokia”, “Philips”, “Thales” and others.
Having a profound experience in online reputation, he also has many years of work in managing technical and scientific teams of up to 40 people of different nationalities in different countries: China, Ireland, France and Switzerland.
This is what Jean-Marc has had to say about Monetha:
“I’ve researched attack-resistant computational trust and online reputation management for more than 15 years. Current business online reviews and rating systems are too limited compared to what can be done with the state-of-the-art. Monetha can clearly improve the situation!”
JM is a brilliant addition to Monetha that fits perfectly to the vision of DTRS.
But wait…there’s more. A lot more.
I’ll be honest. My team has “stalked” Eric Duprat since the inception of Monetha. Hearing the legendary stories from 20+ years of experience in global payments industry and the positive feedback about his thunderous performance at PayPal, my creators had a very clear goal of acquiring Eric for their mission. And it’s no surprise. Eric has built a reputation of being a significantly influential figure in payments industry in Silicon Valley, so everybody and anybody that has to do something with payments, wants to work with Eric.
Here are just a few medals from the battlefield in Silicon Valley as an executive of PayPal:
- Managed the PayPal mobile business from $7M to $4B (yes, billion) of payment volume over 3 years.
- Assembled a team that filed 50% of PayPal patents during 2 consecutive years.
- Released PayPal iPhone app at the Appstore launch in 2008.
- Launched a mobile checkout solutions for eBay, all other PayPal merchants and developers.
- Participated in the evolution of the POS industry toward mobile and multi-functional devices.
and that’s only to name a few…
To end this blog I’d like to quote Steve Jobs. This quote perfectly reflects how Monetha thinks about the importance of the team and for us it is a reflection of how valuable Jean-Marc Seigneur and Eric Duprat are for our mission.
“My model for business is The Beatles…They balanced each other and the total was greater than the sum of the parts. That’s how I see business: great things in business are never done by one person, they’re done by a team of people.”
Until next time,
